ConceptPrices & markets

The price as instruction

Definition

A price computed for one buyer from their data, rather than posted for everyone — the same number, carrying the seller's model of you instead of the market's signal. Extends Gardiner Means's “administered prices” (1930s) from the boardroom to the shopper.
